Welcome to The Ascent at Farmington Hills! Management, how are you going to address this issue so that I and each and every other resident has access to the pool when our individual schedules allow us to utilize this "amenity?" Pretty soon summer will be over, and in a couple weeks the pool will be closed until next summer. I, and every other resident, should find an open pool during pool hours when our individual schedules allow us to use the pool.įinding the pool closed each time I've gone over there this entire summer is unacceptable. I work full-time and my schedule is limited as to when I can swim. And no posting as to the reason for it being closed and when it will reopen. Why? Because when I am able to get over there I find it closed, locked, no pool attendant. However, in these three summers I've been able to use the pool only a handful of times. This is my third summer here at Hillside Forest. If an attendant simply doesn't show up, arrives and opens late, or closes and leaves early simply because "No one is coming to swim," that should be grounds for dismissal.īetter yet, get rid of the attendants altogether and give residents a key so that we can use the pool when we choose, during regular pool hours. If it starts to rain, the attendant should be required to wait a certain amount of time before closing up for the rest of the day, especially if it's just a sprinkle or no thunder/lightning/storm. If an attendant has an emergency then there needs to be a backup attendant. Last year I was told that sometimes the attendant will leave if no one goes over there. I've been told by a leasing agent that sometimes the pool attendant has an emergency, or it's raining, or some such thing. In fact, I have yet to use the pool at all this summer because each time I've been able to go there it has been closed. Today is a bright, warm, sunny day and once again I am unable to swim due to the pool is closed, no attendant in sight. I am beyond furious at this point and extremely disappointed that Hillside Forest doesn't do something about making sure the pool is open during regular pool hours. The chains rub together so it can rub the paint off, I don't mind though and I don't know how to prevent it :,) To secure the chain to the PVC handle I put wire all the way through the length of the pipe and glued it to the far end into the distal spikes and had the rest of the wire come up and wrap around the chain many times, both ends of wire were glued into the far end. Don't be sad to destroy and remake :) it's all yours.įor the chain I used a plastic Halloween chain I found at Michael craft store, pulled apart the chains to the length I wanted, painted pink, added tiny craft foam spikes i made and hot glued them (they pop off a lot, maybe use super glue). I went off the reference pictures but also how I liked it, I remade so many templates and even ripped some off after I glued them because i hated how it looked. I drew up patterns for the top and bottom pieces and made them out of craft foam and hot glue attaching. I started with PVC pipe1", cut it 19" long based on my own preference (hand saw, or pvc clippers) painted it pink and sealed it, hot glued thin strips of pink craft foam around the sides following pictures from online. I used a diamond shape of see through fabric and hot glued it to the inside of the mask so it wouldn't move around too much ( but it ended up coming off) so more glue or just wear it separate. For the slightly inverted sides I cut out and attached all pieces separately and at an angle. For the spikes I started with making paper spikes, when I finally got the shape I cut it out of craft foam and hot glued where I wanted them. Had to repaint over it a lot and put mod podge on top this time. Made a big mistake and put on high gloss varnish over my acrylic paint, it left yellow spots everywhere. Sealed with Mod Podge, painted so many layers. So I didn't finish it and restarted.Īttempt 2, I revised my already revised pattern widening the eyes because i couldn't see out of it, and opening up the mouth piece more, I used cereal box again as my first layer, then glued craft foam to the top. I used mod podge on top, paint then more mod podge, I hated how it turned out. My first attempt I used my revised pattern traced and cut out from a cereal box, then used paper mache. Didn't like the look, so I revised and tweaked it. I printed it out and taped the paper together. I started out pausing the film where he fights eowyn to get a good view of the Witch King and tried to draw my own pattern, turned out very difficult so I found a pattern from google called "The Witch King of Angmar Helmet Template". Then when I click the chat option, it asks me to complete my information. I need to register an account id again, though I already have an account. There seems to be a chat option, but it does not work. Then, I followed the standard procedure to uninstall, reboot, download from the user account, reinstall, and register did not work. Sophos Home Premium's home screen displays a green checkmark to show that everything is safe and secure.įirst, the technical view is not functional. This speediness is likely why Sophos engineers didn't feel the need for a quick-scan option. Subsequent full scans averaged 4:37 indicating that Sophos had learned which files to skip. Sophos Home Premium's first system scan took a speedy 8 minutes and 32 seconds, although it didn't tell us how many files it examined. That’s heavier than ESET's very light scans, but about average for the category and much better than McAfee's full scan, which nearly doubles the system load. At the other extreme, Bitdefender's background hit was a large 19%.ĭuring full system scans, the benchmark completion time rose to an average of 15 seconds, a 47% performance shortfall from the baseline and a 39% increase on the background load. This rose to 10.8 seconds after Sophos was installed, a 6% drop in performance potential that's a bit below the average (in a good way) of all the 2021 antivirus we've seen so far. System performance impact as of January 2021 System hitīefore we installed Sophos Home Premium on the ThinkPad, the benchmark test finished in 10.2 seconds, which we used as a baseline. Other antivirus brands reserve parental controls for their priciest products, but Sophos includes web filtering with both Home and Home Premium. It takes about five minutes to install either. Instead of one firewall to replace the Windows one, Sophos has two free downloadable firewall options: XG Firewall Home Edition (opens in new tab) and Sophos UTM Home Edition (opens in new tab). Most antivirus products use their own browser extensions to block known malicious websites, but Sophos Home and Home Premium go old-school, with a database of malicious sites built right into the core antivirus software. By contrast, Kaspersky had perfect 100% scores both times. That's even worse than Sophos' 88% score in the previous round. In October-December 2020 tests by London-based SE Labs, Sophos fell well behind the pack with an 86% protection score, letting eight out of 100 pieces of malware infect a test machine. Bitdefender, ESET, Kaspersky and Microsoft all got 99.8% or 99.9% detection scores in the enterprise tests. The testing of Intercept X by AV-Comparatives in August through November mirrors these results with an overall 98.3% score. In the same tests, the enterprise software of every other premium antivirus brand we regularly review detected 100% of zero-day malware from July through October. In AV-TEST's November-December 2020 enterprise round, Sophos finally aced all four tests, the first time it had done so in a year. It detected 100% of the widespread malware in all of AV-TEST's 2020 evaluations from January through October but missed quite a few of the zero-days. Overall, Sophos Intercept X Endpoint was stronger at finding and removing known, widespread malware threats than brand-new "zero-day" ones. Latest lab-test results as of January 2021 Row 0 - Cell 0 If that's not enough, Sophos offers free stand-alone security tools and utilities (opens in new tab), including the Hitman Pro malware removal applications and two software firewalls. Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux is free and compatible with most major 64-bit Linux distributions, including CentOS, Debian, Red Hat, SUSE and Ubuntu, but it isn't integrated into the PC and Mac software. There are Intercept X apps for phones and tablets that require at least Android version 5.0 or iOS version 11. Macs require macOS 10.12 (Sierra) through 10.15 (Catalina), but the latest macOS 11.0.1 (Big Sur) release only protects against malware in the coming months, Sophos will add website blocking to its repertoire. Sophos Home Premium is based on the company's business-minded Intercept X security software and works with Windows 7 (with Service Pack 1) through Windows 10. There's no hardened browser, but Sophos can encrypt keystrokes, stop potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) and block known dangerous websites, and its online account lets you remotely scan your other computers as long as they're online.Ĭlearly, it's for antivirus customers who value price and simplicity over having every last security and privacy feature. In 1818, he won a scholarship at Trinity, but in 1820, out of overexertion in study and fear of failure, he did not obtain the desired honors in his final undergraduate examinations. Newman took his son to Oxford and enrolled him at Trinity College where, after a difficult start because of his strict religious beliefs and youth, the young man did well. During this time he experienced what he would later call his first conversion: a conscious awareness of God’s existence and providence in his life, and of the importance of religious doctrine. That summer, young Newman remained at school and, while convalescing from an illness, came under the strong religious influence of Walter Mayers, a Calvinist clergyman. Newman’s bank failed and the family suffered financial difficulty. He also learned to play the violin, a pastime that he would enjoy for the rest of his life. There he excelled in his studies, including Latin, and won competitions in writing. The family enjoyed material comfort and, unlike most children of the period, Newman attended a boarding grammar school in Ealing, just outside London. Newman was baptized less than two months after his birth, and his grandmother Elizabeth Good and aunt Elizabeth Newman read to him the Sacred Scriptures from an early age. The family was Low Church Anglican, and in addition to morning and evening prayers, they attended Sunday service in church. His wife, daughter of a wealthy papermaker, was descended from French Huguenots. Newman, son of a Cambridge grocer, was a banker. He was controversial because he voiced his beliefs in difficult subjects of the day, relying on the logical consequences of accepted Christian premises.īorn in London on Old Broad Street, where the London Stock Exchange stands today, he was the oldest of six children in the family of John Newman and Jemima née Fourdrinier. But Newman was neither he should instead be considered orthodox, indebted as he was to the doctrinal principle in religion. Liberals and religious conservatives seek him as standard-bearer for their positions. His extensive intellectual and literary legacy makes of him an attractive figure, one often quoted, and more often misquoted - a thinker whose endorsement is sought by Catholic writers in doctrinal and moral matters. Like many of the celebrated Victorians, he was a man of letters, a prolific writer, and an influential figure in public life. He was an Anglican convert to Catholicism, a Catholic priest, and later a cardinal. John Henry Newman ( 1801-1890) was one of the great Englishmen of the nineteenth century perhaps one could call him a Victorian, yet he was very different from other famous Victorians such as Charles Dickens, George Elliot, or William Gladstone.
